After easing up a bit, oil prices are back on the rise, and nothing the Saudis say about increased production and a meeting with producers and consumers seems to be stopping the gains. As a result, the broader stock market is down (helped along by additional worries over the continuing credit market crisis), and even the energy sector is seeing some setbacks. |

Call them what you will, alien invaders, invasive species, or just aliens, these ecological-niche invaders are increasingly present in ecosystems on land and in water, and increasingly difficult to eradicate because they always seem to thrive, even when displaced, and frequently feed on - or otherwise eradicate - native populations.

As I mentioned in my article "The Phony 'Bush Lied' Storyline," the MSM and the Dems should have remembered that since the 1998 Iraqi Freedom Act, enacted by Congress and signed by President Clinton, it was the law of the United Stated of America to seek regime change in Iraq. Instead the angry left claims that George W. Bush lied to the American People.

Those of us not susceptible to Bush Derangement Syndrome have always known that "Bush lied, kids died" is a phony story line for the political usage of the democrats; a rallying cry for the angry left; a mental disease with no known cure. |

I know the Democratic leaders have opposed some of these policies in the past. Now that their opposition has helped drive gas prices to record levels, I ask them to reconsider their positions. If congressional leaders leave for the 4th of July recess without taking action, they will need to explain why $4-a-gallon gasoline is not enough incentive for them to act. And Americans will rightly ask how high oil -- how high gas prices have to rise before the Democratic-controlled Congress will do something about it.

Big Oil companies are currently offering "value" investing opportunities. While the stock market takes a break today, with oil prices falling back a bit and gas prices easing a very little, oil companies may provide good buying opportunities. Among those that stand a good chance include Total (TOT), the French "supermajor" oil company.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Centers for Disease Control, or CDC, have been pressuring manufacturers like Dupont (DD - $47.21) and 3M (MMM - $75.22, formerly Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing) for years to replace their toxic coatings containing PFOAs (a type of PFC) with more environmentally-friendly substitutes. |
