Suez (Bio-fuels) - 2007/01/09 04:48
Suez is a Paris, France based company with over $60 billion US in annual sales (2005). Its to two lines of business are energy and the environment.
Suez is making waves with its use of biomass for energy. Biomass generally refers to any recently living material not chemically or physically altered by a geological process (i.e. fossil fuels). One sustainable success story is the converstion of a hitherto coal plant in Belgium into one strictly firing biomass.
----
One thing to watch with biomass is the use of material which could also be used as food. As a percentage of total population, current grain supplies are at an all time low.
