So the ethanol industry continues its uphill battle. United States-based ethanol pureplays such as Aventine Renewable Energy (AVR), VeraSun Energy (VSE), and USBioEnergy (USBE) continue to receive a blind eye from investors as their stock prices languish. In previous postings, we have discussed how the ethanol industry is at an inflection point, which would support a near-term bearish outlook. However, there have since been some developments that will help to further define the marketplace over the long run.

This type of fuel can be processed by means of sugar fermentation, where either pure cane sugar can be used directly, or a variety of feedstocks (switchgrass, rapeseed, wood chips, municipal waste, etc.) can be used and then broken down into sugar.
Coal Moratorium Gaining Steam Written By: Michelle Haimoff 2008-01-23 17:07:41 Rainforest Action Network (RAN) reports that 59 proposed coal-fired power plants have been cancelled or shelved in the past year. Both RAN and Coal Moratorium NOW! have been calling for a moratorium on the construction of new coal-fired power plants through education, grass roots organizing and non-violent direct action, such as the National Global Warming Teach-In on January 31, 2008.
