A recent Wall Street Journal article cites a McKinsey & Co study claiming that American consumers influence 65% of the country’s greenhouse gas emissions. (Consumers in the rest of the world only influence 43% of emissions.) The findings demonstrate that it is the individual and not industry that has power over climate control.

Up until now I have been somewhat casual about Climate Change, at least compared with the immediate direct causes of Mass Extinction. It seemed to me that the truly irrevocable consequences of climate were 50 to 100 years away and because climate change is so directly threatening to humanity, we would deal with it eventually.

Wondering how the planet's atmosphere is faring at shareholder meetings?

Ceres is an organization that is interested in "sustainable prosperity." My favorite of the Ceres activities is their shareholder resolution work and the roundup of corporate resolutions.  A quick report card on the various companies is quite clear.

I quickly ran across some oil companies that I own or follow.  I found that, even though my ownership choices of integrated oil and energy companies is mostly determined by their relative futures prospects current valuations compared to expected future valuations, these choices matched nicely with more cooperative companies.
