Environment is the New Religion

The recent New York Times Magazine entitled "The Money Issue," covers topics ranging from how good works are measured, to why people give, microfinancing, and the relationship between celebrity and philanthropy.

But what struck me off the bat is the chart illustrating how Americans allocated their contributions to charitable causes in 2006. The research was gathered by Giving USA, which also noted that U.S. charitable giving reached a new record in 2006 of an estimated $295.02 billion.

Exxon (XOM) gets slammed in a report by the Union of Concerned Scientists for disinformation campaign knowledge.  See Reuters Article

 In Exxon's response they admit,   "While there is more to learn on climate science, what is clear today is that greenhouse gas emissions are one of the factors that contribute to climate change, and that the use of fossil fuels is a major source of these emissions. "

Fake Dirt: Another Bad Idea

I’m compiling a list of bad environmental ideas. The first was sowing the ocean with tons of iron fertilizer to encourage phytoplankton, which only incidentally absorb the carbon dioxide (CO2) associated with global warming.
